The Allagash Wilderness Waterway is a 92 mile north-flowing waterway in the remote forests of northern Maine. For paddlers, it is a remarkable destination of lakes, rivers, wildlife, historic sites and well maintained campsites. The waterway has been protected by the State of Maine since 1966. In 1970 it became a federally protected wild river and part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.

This site is a guide to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, built from the experiences of the author and continually enriched by those who have traveled the waterway.
